This is probably in response to Mattel's Superman Returns and Batman Begins movie line.
The FF2 movie line was confirmed to also be in the 5" scale

5" scale??? Now thats depressing. I wanted to get the new fantasticar but probably won't since it won't fit my 6" scale ml collection. Bummer.

i'm kinda dissapointed with the Spidey 3 movie figures for a couple of reasons 1 it's expensive $8.79 each and the 2nd reason is the scale bummer

i'll just get the villains i wonder why hasbro made a reissue of the 6 inch movie villains in the marvel 2 packs and yet they cant make the new movie figures 6 inchers... so disappointing.

Another weird thing with hasbro the Spider-man origins is only available from xmas to this month. right now it's on clearance in target it'll be replaced with the smaller scale spidey classic

Here's a 2 page spread in last month's toyfare that shows all the costumes spiderman has donned in the Marvel Univ. some costumes were not actually worn by Peter Parker per se (e.g. Scarlet spider, Spiderman 2099)...
Based from the picture the only figures so far that have been immortalized in plastic are the ff:
Spiderman - Steve ditko 1st app. (red and black)
Spiderman red and blue
Spiderman black costume
Spiderman 2099
Scarlet Spiderman
2nd Ben Reilly Costume
Armored Spiderman costume
Ultimate spiderman
Manga spiderman
Spiderman unlimited costume aka Spin and Trap spiderman from the SMC toybiz wave
Spiderhulk
If you buy this month's toyfare it showcases almost all of the relevant spiderman figures (villains, movie figures) released.
Suprisingly toyfare's best spiderman figure is the snap shot spidey - not the super poseable wall crawling spiderman figure aka the Mcfarlane spidey.
