One of the best things about doing a quick toy run of the shops in Hong Kong is that you never really know what you’ll find. On the second to the last day of our vacation, I found a shop selling some of the old Gargoyles figures by Kenner – carded.
The best thing about these figures? The price. At the time of purchase, HK$20 is equivalent to approximately US$2.58. It felt like I found a pirate’s treasure chest – only this contained some vintage action figures instead of gold coins.
For the longest time, I had been contemplating on backtracking this line as I have done so with Super Powers and Thundercats (both of which I’m now just 2 figures short of completing). I haven’t taken the plunge with Gargoyles because I am hopelessly running out of storage space at home. But I suppose that’s all moot now, thanks to these perfectly priced deals.
So now I have six on hand, which is still a long way from completing the line. But it’s also too many to simply just leave alone. So I’m off to hunting the rest. Wish me luck in finding more bargains.
