My Hot Toys Bank Robber Jokers

Posted by: vader at 6:29 pm on Thursday, February 5, 2009

Yes, Jokers with an “s”. Read on to know why you’re getting the plural even if you just purchased 1.

Hot Toys released the Bank Robber Joker in Hong Kong sometime late last year while DC Direct waited for the first week of January this year to release the same thing through their channels. I didn’t receive mine until about a week ago because it was purchased through a US-based seller who sourced them via DC Direct. But while this post is a tad late, I am still just as stoked to finally have one of the most highly anticipated toys.

Having had to wait nearly a couple of months after seeing plenty of Bank Robber Joker pictures already posted in the numerous online forum, the initial excitement I felt actually almost turned into remorse. I started to ask myself why did I have to pay a good amount of money just to get an alternated head sculpt. I already owned the first version, did I really need this?

What silly questions. The minute I received a notice that my package is ready for pick-up, all doubts went out the window. Like a kid who knows he’s getting a toy from Santa, I woke up early the following day to make my way to the parcel section of my local post office. And thus, the Hot Toys Bank Robber Joker was mine.

Hot Toys really outdid themselves with this figure. It comes with 2 head sculpts and both of them are breathtakingly beautiful. Compared to the first Joker version, Hot Toys has come up with a vastly improved sculpt of Heath Ledger’s likeness (as the Joker) for this version.

Transplanting the new head sculpt to the first version Joker’s body was easy as pie. It actually is the ideal thing to do so you can pose the alternate “slicked hair” version with Bank Robber body. Thus you’re actually getting 2 Jokers, not just 1.

Or maybe even even 3…
