The 7th Annual Philippine Toys, Hobbies and Collectibles Convention (ToyCon PH), organized by Collectibles Unlimited Assoc., happens on June 14-15, 2008 at the SM Megamall’s MEGATRADE HALL 2-3.

With this year’s The Dark Knight movie theme, I was delightedly surprised to see AFHUB regular Ricky Tinio (a.k.a. Ricky Sunshine) geared up as Batman. Well, if there’s anyone who’s beefy enough to put on that suit, it’s gotta be him. Way to go, Bruce… err, Ricky!

A TDK-related highlight during the convention was the local retail release of Mattel’s The Dark Knight Movie Masters line. The 6-inch scale action figures go for P899 each except for the Unmasked Batman chase figure which, to everyone’s surprise, was priced at a jaw-dropping P2,500 apiece. I did purchase The Joker – call it a brief moment of insanity, probably caused by that Joker venom.

The real eye-catcher of the event was Pinoy Statue Forum‘s display of various sculptures. The 1:1 Busts of Michael Jordan, Batman and The Joker drew plenty of attention. A well-deserved kudos to Ritchie dela Merced (a.k.a. Speedracer on AFHUB), the guy responsible for these alluring pieces.

Of course, this year’s convention had the usual gamut of shops selling toys, action figures, novelties, and other what-nots. Some items were cheap, some were not – so there’s something for every attendee.

There’s also the array of collectors’ displays…
