Even in Arkham There Are Batman Variants To Collect! (SPOILER ALERT!)

Though this isn’t technically about Action Figures, since Batman Arkham City is the number one game in the world, both DC Direct AND Mattel have figures based on the distinct styles of the characters and since it’s Batman and I don’t know a single action figure collector who doesn’t have at least one Batman item I think this is worth mentioning.

I won’t go into much detail about the game itself, other than to say most video game reviews have given it a perfect or near perfect score and I for one (as a Batman fan who’s been collecting his exploits since Detective Comics #600 in 1988 and as a gamer who’s been playing since Pong) agree. Batman Arkham City, the sequel to Arkham Asylum delivers on all it’s hype and is one of the finest representations of Batman in ANY medium and yes, I’m aware of what a bold statement that is. With more villains, Easter Eggs and nods to the fans than you shake a stick at it’s probably in my top 3 video games I’ve ever played.

But enough about the game itself, if you’re playing it you’ve probably already noticed that in the challenge modes you can play as more than one version of Batman AND more than one version of Catwoman (Spoilers…toldya.) But many of these will be available in the Campaign and New Game Plus portions of the game as well. Eventually most if not all of the different skins out there should be available for purchase on xboxlive and playstation network but many of them are attainable right now IF you know where to look. So here’s the lowdown so far for the U.S. on how to collect the many faces of Batman:

Batman Arkham Asylum Collectors Edition (both systems): Catwoman, Catwoman Classic, The Dark Knight Returns Batman

Pre-Order at Gamestop WITH a Power-Up Card: Batman The Animated Series Batman and Catwoman.

NOS Energy Drink Reward: Batman Beyond (1 Reward Point) So one can of NOS Energy Drink is all you need but MAKE SURE it’s a can that is specially marked with the words NOS REWARDS SERIES (there will be a yellow ring around the top of the can) and redeem the point to purchase the Batman Beyond Skin at drinknos.com This is a limited quantity offer so there is a chance they’ll run out when more people are aware of this promotion.

Best Buy: Robin, this was a pre-order item which gave you early access to Robin AND the Black Mask hideout challenge map. It’s possible that these exclusive items are still available for purchase at Best Buy. Robin is not a “Skin” but a unique character with his own moves like Catwoman. ALSO on November 1st the NIGHTWING bundle pack will be available for purchase on PSN and xboxlive.com who will also be a unique character.

There’s also a rumor going around that Best Buy will have a version of the Green Lantern Blu Ray which will come with a Sinestro Corp Batman Skin. Unfortunately, the same rumor specified that would only be for Playstation 3. As mentioned earlier most if not all of these items will be available for purchase eventually, but if you want Batman to throw some Frank Miller or Terry McGinnis style beatdowns now you know what where to go and what to do. Below are pics of a few of the skins. Oh and if you have the Xbox360 version and you’re the first person to put the following code in on xboxlive you’ll get the Batman Beyond Skin without drinking a drop of NOS. A special bonus to the first reader. Enjoy! All I ask is that you leave a comment saying you used the code so other readers don’t waste their time putting it in. Thanks!

Batman: The Animated Series

Animated Series Catwoman

Batman Beyond

The Dark Knight Returns
